One of the many things growing up on an island exposes you to are the water sports that keep people active. Kite surfing has been, and probably still is, the fastest growing sport since it’s major exposure in the 1990’s. With today’s modern design in kites and safety instructions; it’s no wonder why it has grown so much. One place amongst many that is striving in the growth of Kite Surfing is Zanzibar. Schools are popping up left right and center and it’s incredibly easy to see why.
Huge lagoons with strong consistent winds (in the right seasons) with a local culture that adds to the flair of being on holiday. I was fortunate enough to be tied into the whole world of Kite Surfing as part of of my experience on the island was working for a kite school; Paje by Kite . I was gifted with photographing the daily events at the school as well as huge celebrities in the Kite Industry such as Susi Mai and Nick Jacobsen.
